Code Compliance Specialist (Lewis Run, PA)

Job Summary:

Responsible for performing the duties of an Authorized Inspector for ASME “UM” stamped vessels. The CCS takes direction from the Code Manager for providing over-site to ensure that the use of the “UM” code symbol is in accordance with the requirements of ASME BPVC Section VIII, Div. 1 and the ASME Quality Control Manual.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Specialist must have skills in communication, interpretation of technical documents and organization.
  • Specialist must keep abreast of changing code rules and standards. Works with Engineers, Clients, Code Inspectors, Sub-Contractors, Production and Quality departments to resolve code issues, perform design and calculation reviews and participate in Code related audits.
  • Ensure company’s designs and processes comply with project specified code standards and rules.
  • Coordinate Canadian Registration of pressure vessels.
  • Review and verify pressure vessel designs, materials and fabrication practices follow the requirements of the applicable code standards and rules.
  • Verify proper welding techniques and processes are used on manufacturing documents.
  • Review and sign off ASME Code Calculations. Register, review and sign off Data reports.
  • Provide technical support to Sales, Quality Control and Production. Independently analyze and interpret various forms of internal technical information as well as customer supplied data to verify designs follow the requirements of the applicable code rules.
  • Interpret the rules for ASME Section VIII, Div.1, ASME Section II (Materials), ASME Section IX (welding), ASME Section V (NDE) and National Board Inspection Code for repairs.
  • Understand and interpret the design calculations required for pressure vessels.

Requirements:

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Individual must pass Certified Individual test provided by the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors.
  • Regular use of desktop computer including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP system, and other company operations software.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision and capable of self-checking work produced for completeness and accuracy.
  • Effective and active communication both verbal and written. Must be able to adapt to different audiences to deliver accurate information to achieve the goal.
  • Ability to maintain a sense of urgency to meet the customer and ABCs time frames.
  • English Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical documents such as design descriptions, specifications, blue prints, technical procedures, pressure calculations and other engineering data. Ability to effectively communicate and present technical information to other internal departments, subcontractors, vendors, customers and Authorized Inspectors. Project a professional image to visitors and customers.

Will be required to work from our location in Lewis Run, PA.
